Traveling to London this Christmas gave me the opportunity to meet an interesting artist and purchase prints of the work of another very talented artist. At the first day in Camden Town, I met Amos Shein, I was very impressed by the patterns he is using on his drawings so I asked him how much his prints cost. '' These are 15 pounds (showing me the colour prints) these are 10 ( showing me the black prints) , but if you want a better price I can arrange for you' he added. There was the time we had a little chat and he knew the word helona in Greek - turtle in English - which made me more impressed and proud for the Greek language. I told him then that I am an artist too so I do not need a special price.
He was smiling as I was looking his prints to choose one. My eyes admired this piece at the first sight, so I told him that I would like this one. He kindly explained me the meaning of this piece and I left a happy person. Amos Shein’s work revolves around transformation, creation of objects and imaginary assemblages / installations made out of discarded objects that were left behind.
Exploring and experimenting with performance, drawings and paintings of repetitive patterns that grow into organic forms.

At the second time we went to Camden I was looking for Amos because I wanted some more prints. I didn't find him ,although I was happy that I had his emails to contact him for more prints.
On my way I noticed then some very interesting prints, and there was the name, GLIL.
GLIL are recomposing some of the most iconic and famous images by using materials that lose their value and relevance very quickly in our society, like newspapers, flyers, magazines.

I hope you enjoy these two artists too ≧^◡^≦ Have a great week ahead. Dimitra

Looking to my eyes you can see I love to be a true person. When something makes me feel bad, I look bad too, even though I could go out and sit on my own, having a drink without caring if anyone notice how bad I look outside. I am an open book, and I do not feel the need to give any explanations. I always show who I am, nothing to hide, nothing to win, nothing to lose. When I am good, all of me shine, I could go out, find friends and hug someone who needs this just to give them a little bit of shine too and make others feel better. When I am angry, upset, frustrated, happy, sad, pleased you can read this straight in my eyes from the very first moment, before I even speak to you, and I would never try to put someone through my situations. This is my business to get over. This is me; this how my family raised me, based on truth even if this hurts sometimes. It is one of the greatest lessons I was taught and it’s one of the lessons I will carry until I breath. For all the people who try to be happy there is one thing I want to say, you will never find peace and happiness trying to destroy other people‘s happiness. You will never find joy in your life trying to screw other people’s life. Stop dealing with others and find a reason to make YOUR life worth.
Have a great week! © 2016 Dimitra Grigoriou.

December 2015

2016 wishes are not enough. I am sure that everyone has at least one wish that would like to come true this year, so what I wish to everyone is; light of happiness. No matter if this is for health, peace, success, love and even if we think our wish is more important than others'. I wish to each one of you to have this thing you see, hear, smell or feel first of everything each morning and make your days brighter. Exercise more, eat better, make a target list and set high goals is a good way for everyone of us to start the New Year. Even if some goals we set for the New Year don't work out, we can always try setting them again and look for other fresh starts.
Always fight to the end & Never give up.
Lots of Love and Light for 2016

June 2015

For the first time this year CHEAPART.CYPRUS will be held simultaneously in two cities; Nicosia and Limassol from June 11 – June 20, 2015. Hundreds of contemporary art works will be on display for 10 days, creating a cross -city platform among artists, art professionals and the public to exchange ideas and ferment future collaborations.
CHEAPART is a Network of Exhibitions that extends to 5 European major cities. It’s immediate objective is to showcase artwork from the contemporary art scene, to develop and associate creative links among other cities and countries, to present contemporary art to a wider public by collaborating with artists, curators and institutions.
Artists perceive CHEAPART as a communication platform to introduce new concepts and develop social connections and future partnerships. Buyers in return, gain ownership of original art works at a low fixed price that artists may sell for high prices outside the context of the exhibition. The direct contact that develops among the public and the artist increases the level of understanding of contemporary art.
